CRM & Follow-Up Basics for New Insurance Agents

A simple pipeline you'll actually keep up to date beats a complex one you ignore.

By Freedom Marketing Group · Published

Your CRM should tell you, at a glance, what needs to happen today and which lead sources are paying off.

A starter pipeline

  1. 1Lead intake: the lead arrives automatically with source and timestamp
  2. 2New lead: not yet attempted
  3. 3First contact: reached, conversation started
  4. 4Follow-up: needs another conversation
  5. 5Appointment: scheduled
  6. 6Quote: options presented
  7. 7Application: submitted
  8. 8Won or lost: final outcome with a reason

Track the lead source on every record

Without the source, you can't tell which vendor or campaign is working. Make it a required field.

Follow up with a plan

Use a fixed sequence of attempts across several days. The insurance lead follow-up guide has a starting template, and the CRM guide lists every field worth tracking.
